It's been quiet around Lotus for a few years And if I'm being honest; Lotus' cars are not really my cup of tea And there is one simple reason; I have never driven one so I don't have any experience with the brand But what do we have here? A Lotus Evora ! And the specs look really good! I'm talking about hp, a + but still a real 'driver's car' including a manual gearbox It all does sound great and pure and that's what I like! For the very first time I'm driving a Lotus, it's the Evora We have never done a Lotus review because there wasn't much news to tell and show about the brand But now there is! I think that this is the very first Lotus... That will really conquer our hearts The Evora is the fastest and most powerful production Lotus ever built The name of this car already gives away the amount of power hp All for a car that only weights kg A pretty light weight car with a -speed manual gearbox That hp is coming from a Supercharged . V from Toyota Lotus changed a lot to be able to handle that power For example; the whole intake system and the engine management has been changed The cool thing about this Evora is that despite being practical (it really is!) It's still a very pure driver's car In terms of being practical it's ok, very suitable for daily use But it's also pretty spartan; the clutch is pretty heavy and the gearbox isn't the smoothest You really have to work in this car and that makes it very cool to drive I really like the concept of cars like this, it has to do with real driving I acutally miss that with all the new cars like the Porsche or Cayman Those cars are 'too easy to drive' and are 'too luxurious' And this requires working and that's nice, that's cool about this Lotus And it's good to see that they stuck to the idea of making real driver's cars And now combined with a +, this is not a small car where you have to sit like this No, I have a lot of space and it really feels like a full-grown car and it feels good! You're wrong if you think that the Evora is a facelift of the previous Evora or the Evora S This really is a new car with more than / of new parts And the best new part in my opinion... the exhaust! It's developed by Lotus and it has a valve control system With the valves closed the car is very silent but with valves open it makes the car sound like a beast! From the insided it's all pretty good isolated From the outside it is really amazing, it's very loud To make it more suitabel for daily use, they have isolated that car pretty good It still does sound great from the inside, it's just a bit muted Most of the changes can't be seen from the outside But; the car has a new front and rear bumper and it has a new spoiler on the back It makes the car look more sportive and aggressive It really looks like a more full-grown car now But most changes can't be seen from the outside or are made in the interior We see a lot of alcantara and buttons to make changes to the chassis and the throttle response Lots of improvement compared to the previous models The gearbox is still a bit jerky, sometimes you can be in the wrong gear Lotus did some improvements but it's still not the best in my opinion I have nothing to complin about the chassis, the handling of this Evora can be referred to as perfect The Evora is the first lotus with a locking differential It means you can make lovely drifts if you want, unfortunately we couldn't do that today This Evora from 'Van Der Kooi Sportscars' is brand new, it only had a mileage of km when we picked it up It means that it all stops at rpm... After km it will get new oil and it will be completely checked and reset After that you can go all the way up to + rpm The car also has a few downsides... The key! I have seen the same key for a Ford Ka And then I think Lotus what are you doing? It really detracts from the car The same thing for the navigation system... It's a cheap system from Alpine They could better choose to leave it all out Do it the right way or don't do it at all! Most important thing; the driving and it's absolutely great Lots of feeling, it's very pure.
